Being a teacher

Heya guys,

a question for all the teachers here:

when becoming a teacher, was it something you always wanted to be? Or was/is it more like a job like any other job?

Just wondering, it's not that I would resent teaching, it's just that it's my dreamjob or anything.

It wasn't something that I really always wanted to DO, but it was something that I always wanted to TRY (from about my mid-twenties) to see what it was like.

So I gave it a try and did my teacher training year and I've never regretted it. Some of my best life experiences have been through teaching. It's not a job for everyone, of course, and it has its pros and cons just like any other situation.

Teaching at university is very different from what I used to do in schools, though. Sometimes I think about going back, but haven't made the move as yet.

Funny thing is, I started doing my teacher training year, but the courses were so retarded, and roughly 60% was a complete waste of time, so I quit (it used to be a half year course, recently they managed to get government money to organise a full year course, then they realised they actually had to fill up that whole year with something, so set up a lot of bs courses to keep us occupied, and I didn't feel like doing so).

The actual teaching I did was ok, lot's of planning, but not a bad experience at all.

I'm gonna look into bypassing this university training somehow.
