Best Buy Store Pickup

Sign in to disble this ad
The store pickup from Best Buy is great, I totally dig it. Shop online, pay online, wait 15 minutes, go pick it up at my local BB about 10 minutes away.

The only other store I know of that does this is Sears. Does anyone know of other retailers that are doing it too?

I tried the in-store pickup once and was a bit dissapointed. By the time I waited in the in-store pickup line, I could have pulled the items off of the shelf myself. I suppose that could be the exception, but it was my one experience.

Sounds schweet! If you've got any college age kids you might want to see if you can do something with this deal:

Buy a PC and Get a Free Xbox 360

Could save some cash if you return the laptop and 360. I think Microsoft has their own official promotion like this as well.

I tried to get in on that deal. I have a nephew in high school. He didn't want any of the laptops at BB that qualified for the free XBOX. Same with the Microsoft and HP websites. But yeah, that is a good deal.

Autozone and Microcenter too.
It's especially nice that MC does that. They have SOOOOO much stuff it can be really hard to track stuff down in the store.

I was just about to say Autozone. Also, you can buy movie tickets online, print the ticket, then when you get to the theater you go straight to the usher and walk right in. My wife and I did that a couple of weeks ago when we went to see the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie. No muss, no fuss!

I think it would take about the same amount of time just grabbing it in the store. The only situation I could see this being an advantage is when shopping with the wife/girlfriend/mistress/etc

"No baby, it's already at the front desk. There's no reason to look around. Sorry."

In my recent experience, I walked into Best Buy, took a left and went to the counter with the "In Store Pickup" sign above it, showed my ID, the girl handed me the items I purchased, flashed my receipt to the guy at the door, and walked out. I was in the store for less than one minute. I suppose it would have taken longer had there been a line at the counter I went to.

The part I left out is Best Buy sent me an e-mail saying my order was ready for pickup. The website says to allow 45 minutes, but it is never more than 10 minutes each time I have done it.

The cool thing about it is you don't have any clerk(s) harassing you to buy an extended warranty.

I looked into it, but you can get a better laptop AND an Xbox 360 for less by just buying them separately. You have to buy a specific (overpriced) laptop to qualify.

Fry's Electronics does it. The one time I used it, my order was ready but it was the wrong item. I waited at the checkout while they went to the other side of the store to fetch the correct item.

When they work, these services are great for getting stuff done on your lunch break. Otherwise, I usually like to browse the CD section or check something else out.

Probably not with the assortment of items that Mike purchased in this instance.

I bought a yoga mat from Walmart, but it wasnt available at the storte near me, online only. I dont like to have things sent to my home, because there isnt always someone around to receive things. So I bought it online and had it shipped to the store. Got an email when it arrived, and picked it up on my way home from work.

YMMV...
I've allowed over two hours at my local Best Buy at least twice and each time when I got there, after having to wait in the line (we have a combo 'InStore Pickup' & 'Customer Service' kiosk that usually has 5 employees milling about while one person actually helps people) they've had to go retrieve my item off the shelf.

Oh dang, I could see that happening at my store too. We have those same employees at ours who walk around behind the CS counter telling people that they don't handle whatever the person is asking them to do.

micro center has it, but the one time i used it, it took about 20 minutes standing in line only to get to the counter and find out my item hadn't even been pulled yet...so about 35 minutes to pick up what would've taken me 10 to get myself, ha!
