Best forum for iPhone jailbreaking info?

Just got my buddies 3GS but I am not sure if the boot loader will allow an exploit. It is on 4.0 now but I think I may need to downgrade the OS/Boot loader to jailbreak it.

None of the forums I've found seem to have a clear and concise answer.

was it really hard to do? Did you lose anything in your phone, like pictures, contacts, music etc?? I have an iPhone 3GS and I want to get it jailbroke so bad but scared to try.

This is interesting. I thought about getting an iPhone but I really hate AT&T (they own the optical lines around my house and are quite tyrannical, I understand the ownership but their service SUCKS).

It wasn't bad on the 3G with iOS 4 but the 3GS with iOS 4 has yet to be Jailbroken, Same thing with the iPhone 4G. Every new phone Apple puts out seems to have a new bootloader that patches the old exploits. Give the Dev-Team a few weeks and it will be done and packaged up for easy use :-

EDIT: Oh and I jailbroke it from a stock restore so I didn't have anything to lose lol. I sync my contacts and calander to Google anyways so I got it all back from there.
