Do you really need a mini? Sometimes you can get a larger one for less.

I'd prefer the mini, as its more portable and it consumes less power.

I bought a 2.5 cu.ft. Danby Energy Star at Walmart in January for $140, and I love it. Its the perfect size, but you can also get I think a 4.4 cu.ft. for like 50 bucks more.

This is the one I bought.

As one who used to work for a rather large retail concern that sold a ton of mini fridges, we exchanged them constantly because their compressors weren't exactly robust.
We filled several large pallets weekly with returns to the vendors of these things. I advise you to do a consumer report search to see which ones fare better because I saw problems across several different brands and I don't have a recommendation. I'm not saying that no one makes a decent mini fridge, but I wasn't too impressed with the current state of the build quality of most of them.

Craigslist. You'll be amazed how many of them are available for $60-$80. I just bought one for my college-bound daughter. At that price, they're disposable.
