Best online job search?

Sign in to disble this ad
Yeah, I'm asking all sorts of questions lately...

Basically, I'm wondering if anyone can tell me their experiences with online job searches. You know, like Career Builder, etc. I'm not too big a fan of Career Builder, because a lot of the jobs posted on there are scams, and it's hard to sift through them.

I'm not looking for a job that pays outrageously well. I think I'd be fine with 25K - 30K right now. I believe some entry level positions pay this much.

So, can someone recommend me their favorite job search engines?

I'm not real big on the major search engines as I never find hardly anything (depending on your field).

One thing I have done with semi-decent luck is go to online local area newspapers.

just go to your state click on the cities near you and go from there. It's a lot easier than getting the paper every day.

You can also look at your state homepage as they may have an unemploymetn job links. This link I'm sending you can also look for state, county, city government jobs.

Good luck...

Depends on the field you're looking for.
I work in logistics and I know of literally probably around 40-50 or so that are specific for logisticians.
But some good general ones are:

jobfox.com
snagajob.com (houlry pay jobs only)
monster.com (I've gotten three jobs from monster)
indeed.com
jobs.net
collegerecruiter.com
entryleveljobs.net
jobster.com

Those are just a few I can think of on the fly. If you have a military/government background, I know of about a million more.

I've used Careerbuilder.com & Craigs List. I've had a lot more luck w/Craigs List than Careerbuilder.

Granted-i'm looking for part time retail.

Dice.com & Monster.com have been working for me for the last 8-9 years.

I too am looking for a job. Been out for over a year and now that my unemployment funds are exhausted and since hubby is only on disability and was working until a tornado ruined the building (he was working under the table sort of)-I have been looking. I hate the "join the army" and work from home scams on there. What really ticks me of is that I applied for a job at JC Penny's (sucks b/c I am a medical assistant who can't get hired), and I spent like 40 min. doing a stupid survey and stuff and they start sending me advertisements! I was infuriated!

Right now I work part time in the Operations department for Bank of America. I was looking for a similar job, if possible.

I'll check these suggestions out.
