You think Episode I is the third best? That's the worst in the series!

I never watched it either... I made sure not to see Epi 1, 2, or 3 when they came out...

And then one weekend a cable company was playing all of the Star Wars movies 4 5 6 1 2 3... I DVR'ed them and watched it 1 2 3 4 5 6... Horrible way to experience the movies and I wish I never had... By the time you get to number 4, you already know who everyone is and you just want them to get on with it...

Originals or "originals" that were CGI'd?

Sure they hold up well, we've seen 'em over and over again and also seen similar (=the same) scenes in later Sci-Fi movies, so it's like an old friend. They (and I do use the word them loosely here ) were forced to have a semi decent story line back in the day because there was only as much special effects the public could take, or more precisely, they could make with the limited budget they had.

Avatar? AVATAR?

Now there's a CGI only movie if there ever was one, and absolutely nothing original in the story-line, nothing. Everything was borrowed, and badly at that. IMHO anyway.
Fun to watch (in 3-D anyway), but I wouldn't even download the flick, let alone buy the DVD.

I II & III are just bad as movies, decent as Sci-Fi. Us older Sci-Fi nerds have grown out from the "Journey To The Moon" kind of special effects loaden hollow stories, onto expecting more. Much more. And as no hoping or wishing will a good movie make, we were severely let down with the I II & III. Now they finally had all the technology to make (and NOT to re-make) movies that would've had the same impact on us as the originals did, but no. They chose, as always, money. And the route that would maximize the merch sales. Lame. And weak.

BUT, the main thing for YOU should be that you enjoyed the experience, and that's all that matters in the end. No matter what we obsolete old farts feel about the "saga" .

BTW, the SP season finale was about the subject in hand, worth a look even though the rest of the season was nothing but a let-down after a let-down.

Regards
Sam

The best way is I - VI. But played as Lego Star Wars. More interactive, and no dialogue. Win.

Star Wars is not science fiction. It's a fantasy flick, a lot closer to let's say LOTR than it is to Blade runner.

I agree with that, and I do like SW. IMO a day spent in front of the TV would be better off with star trek. I, II,III ruined it for me.
