Best way to make cigarette smoke smell go away?

I just got a new car and the previous owner smoked in it.

I don't mind it, its just that im trying to quit and im trying to stay away from the smell cuz it triggers my brian into wanting a smoke. every time i smell that smell i want a cig.

i have freebreeze and stuff, but that just seems to mask the smell. any body know some good ways to make it go away?

As Mike Money said, it's probably from steam cleaning that you will get the best improvement. Other techniques will most likely mask the smell for a while.

Steam cleaning will help but it wont get the smell out of all your vents and stuff. The way professional detailers get smoke smell out of a car is by using an ozone generator. It gets into the vents and neturilizes the odor. For a fee, most detail shops and dealerships will do this for you. I bought a car this summer as a fixer upper. Previous owner was a smoker, bad... By shampooing the carpets and seats and using one of these https://www.dakotaproducts.com/ProductView.aspx?id=48 i successfully got rid of the smoke smell. It works like a bug bomb, but with odor neutralizer. Dont get new car smell though... lol.

on a serious note, this is actually a good idea. certain herbs (sage mostly, also mint tea, and a few others) burn a VERY similar smell, wich tends to mask anything else. if you close your windows and, out of lack of a better term, bake out your car with sage, it will smell like that for a few days..but that smell fades away after a few days (its a nice smell if you ask me..)

and in its fading scent, it will more than likely get rid of the cig smell.

..id try that before a steam clean.

Exactly, that's what I meant with hot chocolate also.
Something about vapor from the milk also neutralizes.

i know this sounds stupid, but if you live in a warm weather climate, drive with the windows down a lot.

i did this with my car and it actually worked. the sweet breeze cleansed the vehicle.

Yup. Fresh air and sunshine! Febreeze doesn't hurt at all either.
