Sign in to disble this ad
The gf bought a Wii, and I am trying to decide on what games to buy first. Anyone have strong opinion for/against any of these?

Paper Mario (N64)
Punch-Out (NES)
Samurai Showdown (1 or 2)
Super Castlevania IV (SNES)
Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES)
Dr. Mario (NES?)
others?

Definetly buy Paper Mario. Punchout and SMB3 definitely gets my recommendation. Those 3 are excellent games. I'd also try:

Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
Super Mario 64
Kirby Crystal Shards
Yoshi Story
MegaMan II or 9

Also, if you are going to go down the piracy route (it's pretty easy), I can help you out...

If you like RPG style games, Paper Mario is pretty good. I definitely recommend SMB3 for being a great, old-school Mario game.

As also recommend above, Super Mario 64 is an amazing game.
Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time is alright too, but being that I played Twilight Princess first, I couldn't get into it as much.

There's plenty of legal homebrew, but playing roms of existing commercial games is piracy.

As in T&C Wood and Water Rage? I loved that game.

Not sure how it all works but I've been disappointed with what's been available on the Wii's downloadables. For sure there the standards but I'm always looking for games that I've played.

1943
RC Pro Am
Skate or Die
TMNT Arcade (the 2nd one,...the 1st is too hard)
There are others that aren't coming to mind yet.

Games that they just don't have as "legal" downloads on the Wii Shop Channel.

Playing roms is not piracy ...if you own the original game.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Simply put, best game of all time)
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

That's true, but we all know the likelihood of someone in the game emulator circles stopping with all the titles they happen to already own in another format

edit*
ironically, every game I listed (save warrio's woods) is one I still have a copy of from an earlier console. I take it all back.

They're supposed to be coming out with Smash Bros. sometime before the end of the year. When that comes out, it would go right to the top of my list.

How could you leave out Castlevania 2? That was the best one IMO.

If you like multiplayer games, then there are versions of Bomberman for the TG-16 available, as well as a Wii specific newer version. Highly recommended.

I think the 2 is one of the worst games on NES ever.
IMO.
