I'll be 20 in 3 months and i am starting to think the best years of my life so far were highschool and being a teen, this whole aging thing is not cool with me. So as of now what time frame would you say was the "best years" of your life and why? |

I've had some good stuff in between that I'm too burned up and angry to think of right now.

My aim for about 6-8 years was to stay intoxicated and I was pretty successful. If I were to measure my life by "parties", those would be the best years. I'm in my mid 30's now and a parent. If I were to measure NOW by my old standards, today would suck. But it doesn't. I got older and that got old, so I moved on. In retrospect, those times were full of a lot of problems I was too dumb to see. I prefer my life now than to any other time.
I can honestly say that I never wish I was younger or that I could relive any time period. I really enjoy my life now and wouldn't trade my situation for another with anyone else. I know it will change and I'll move on. That's how it goes. Don't waste time worrying about what's done.

For others, it was college. Some even say it's their golden years spending time with their grandchildren. Ask 100 people and you'll probably get 100 different answers.
I just turned 59. While I still feel young inside, I have a lot more aches and pains than I did as a young man. Every day is a blessing, and I still love my family and life in general.
But if you were to put a gun to my head and force me to pick a specific time frame, I'd probably say mid-20's to late 30's. Some good times for sure back then. (At least what I remember...)

You are so limited in HS, under so many constraints, it can't compare to the freedom, autonomy, and plain old fun of full-blown adulthood. At 20, you should be figuring this out and enjoying the hell out of blazing your own trail. Work at it a bit more.

You got a long way to go. Quote:

Mike | I know it's cliche but I've learned to treat each day as the best day of my life. I have had some good times at each stage of my life and none of them outweigh the other. Find what makes you happy and surround yourselve with good people that you love and that love you and there will always be good times.

Lots of great times for me. But if I had to pick just one time frame, it undoubtedly would be when I was 15 and 16 years old. That was in 1982-83 and several things that made me real happy got stuck in my mind:
- First and foremost, the Atari 2600 (which we just called "Atari" at the time). Dad bought it for us in Nov. 82 and I spent some of the happiest days in my life playing "Combat", "Asteroids", "Pac-Man", "Kaboom!", "Laser Blast", "Starmaster", "Missile Command", "King Kong" and many others. I will never forget that.
- Spain 82 World Soccer Cup. I've never been a fan of sports, but I like the Soccer World Cup and that year it was very special because the way the TV broadcasts were designed was simply awesome, specially because one reason: It was the first Soccer World Cup that could be seen in my country in full color (Color TV was officially launched in my country on Sat. December 1st, 1979 at 7:00 P.M.). And it was very colorful!
- E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial.
- Rubik's Cube.
Great memories. Not that I'm not happy right now, but evoking that period in my life brings some happiness/nostalgia tears to my eyes. |
