Between Rock (retailer) and Hard Place (FedEx)

So, I bought about $160 worth of stuff from an online retailer. Shipped FedEx.

A week later, I'm sitting in my home-office when an email arrives from FedEx at 3:56PM saying package delivered at 3:54PM. Can't imagine I missed the door since I'm like 3 feet away. Go check. No delivery, no door tag. Check a few houses up and down the street to see if it's at a neighbors by mistake. Nothing.

Contact retailer and let them know. They suggest waiting a day or two as sometimes things get scanned before they actually get delivered.

Four days later FedEX comes by making another delivery. I ask the driver about the other package. He says he remembers it was on his truck but he has no idea where it is. File a claim.

Retailer was nice enough to file a claim on my behalf. Meantime, no stuff and I'm out the $$.

At least it wasn't a high-dollar bass.

I have no problems with USPS, or even UPS, but Fedex....argh I hate em. Stuff like this has happened to me too many times with them.
I think it all may just depend on your location, or simply even just your driver as many people here swear by Fedex and have had nothing but positive experiences with them.

USPS, UPS, and FedEx can all blow it on occasion, but in my experience, UPS gets it right more often that either of the other two. I still cringe at the memory of watching our local FedEx delivery driver literally roll a box plastered with "Fragile" stickers out of the door of his truck and onto the sidewalk. Thankfully, the Fender Twin inside was very well packed and survived the tumble.
