I could be wrong (and please correct me if I am), but I think TalkBass is probably the biggest bass forum site.
OK, but what is the biggest/best forum site for electric guitar? Every one I see is dying on the vine, sites started by people who got kicked off somewhere else and haven't made a go of it on their own. Dumb posts, dumb members and very few of either -- total wastes of time.
Thanks for any leads to high-traffic, well-managed electric guitar forum sites with a low proportion of gristleheads!

I could be wrong.

On the other hand gristlehead class clown posts do function as stealth bumps.

My brother posts there and I did very briefly before I joined this forum. I don't even play guitar, probably why I didn't stick around for too long. They have a bass sub forum if you want to here what guitarists think about bass. |

Not so much "I play better" but rather "don't listen to poster X because he's an idiot" and things like that. Really bad negative vibes from the few forums I've hit.

I was gonna say HCEG (Harmony Central), but there's a fair amount of off-color threads even with Guitar Jam and Open Jam, where such things are tolerated. If you're looking for acoustic help, HCAG is pretty well moderated, on topic and pretty civil. Of course, that's all relative; there's a little animosity between the EB and DB forums here where they call US uncivilized. |

I've found The Gear Page to be most similar to TB, except that IME TGP is much more snobby than TB.

A fair few morons, but in many places, especially the bass forum, there is a core of very knowledgeable people.
