Just watched his 'Revelations' set on bbc4.

Man that guy was sharp. Would love to see what material today's society would provide for him.

Sadly missed.

He is missed! a quote.

He was amazing and I still quote "I don't mean to sound bitter, cold or cruel, but I am, so that's how it comes out."

At least this isn't a Bill Hicks vs Bill Hicks with bass thread.

Bill Hicks never struck me as really funny. It always seems like pretty straight forward social commentary with a little humor to break it up. Good for an awkward laugh or two. George Carlin, on the other hand, was flat-out hilarious.

Bill Hicks catered to the intellectual crowd. I found him to be on point and hilarious.

I can't stand Carlin. He just seems to gripe about everything.

Odd you'd say that about Carlin and not Hicks.

Carlin just reminded me of a raspy Andy Rooney.

Youtube anything by Bill Hicks. I'll pretty much bet you my bottom dollar he's going to be bitching about something or another.

Maybe it's me because I'm young or just me or whatever, but I don't want to watch a "comedian" stand up on stage for an hour or what have you and just complain about **** they don't like.

I think Hicks target audience was open minded (read potheads). I dig Carlin too, they we're basically the same comedian, just different deliveries. I see Kinison as being in the same boat. Just different degrees of profanity/dryness.
I also think most comedians are bitching about something, someway or another.

I just YouTubed him. As much as I thought I liked him 13 years ago, I really don't like either one lol. I guess getting older make you less tolerant lol.

For those who haven't seen it, search on youtube for "bill hicks play from your heart". (Warning, contains NSFW language).

Bill Hicks, let me tell you people... if you don't know Bill Hicks, get your asses on Youtube and do a search. This man was a genius, no doubt about it. The scary thing is that even his old stuff is still relevant today.

"C'mere..." :makes pushing gesture:

Brilliant.

Funny how I went off Leary somewhat when I read about their 'feud' years later...

I take it you're not a fan of Lewis Black....
When interviewed on "Unmasked" on Sirius/XM, Carlin said he really liked Lewis' style

He's no Bill Hicks, but check out Doug Stanhope. His bit about a certain VP nominee is outrageous!
