Black Eyed Peas tour update: I'm off.

Once again, I've been bumped off the BEP tour.

As I understand it, Ludacris wasn't happy with the situation of us being on the tour, taking up some of his stage space and inputs on the board, and threatened to pull out of the tour. Schedules were juggled, concessions were made, and now Prototype will go on as a trio without the backing band. They don't want to perform without us, but I understand that these kind of opportunities don't come often, and I agree that they should carry on.

Although I get the gist of the situation, it's still hard to not feel left out. I could have been performing in front of 30,000 people a night, and now that whole plan has been ruined by "the business". Weak, man. Weak.

If this is how the pop music business regularly works, I'm done with it. Done.

I get the feeling you're living the life of a yo-yo. Sorry to hear the tour is 'off' again for you... hopefully something else, hopefully something better, will turn up!

Incase you missed the memo, pop music IS a buisness, and buisness are interested in one thing...

You've got to be kidding! They did this to you again?

Does your band's budget have room for hiring a full-time lawyer?

Prototype is still going on - just without the live band.

You would think a tour like BEP would have pretty much an infinite amount of channels available for bands. What a lame excuse.

huge +1. that is probably the worst reason I could come up with to cut people from a tour.

Actually, the Catch-22 for huge mega-popular acts is that because they can sell so many tickets the promoters are extremely rigid about how many seats can be "sacrificed" (sic) for the FOH gear. Ironically, if it were a second or third tier act playing 2,000 seat theaters thay probably wouldn't care if they lose two or three more seats just so they can squeeze in a second console or an expander to accomodate the warmup act. But with a top-10 act like BEP they want to sell as many tix for as huge a premium as possible, so they're usually reluctant to sacrifice any square footage that isn't absolutely mandatory. I've heard of promoters attempting to dictate what console the FOH guy mixes on based sheerly on the small footprint of a particular desk!

I agree it's a total crappy excuse...but it's not coming from the sound guys, it's coming from management.

considering the board is probably backstage, I don't see this as an excuse. It's a bs reason to get someone's agenda through.

There is just one problem.. Not one person/group can be like Outkast. Ever.
