I've been playing those maps since Tuesday at lunchtime. Due to the snow, I worked from home, and played on my lunch break.

I liked Black Ops online about as much as I did World At War online...None.

I'm a PS3 gamer and they haven't come out for us yet. I did play them last night on my friends XBox though. I must say, I like them. Berlin Wall is cool as hell, especially the air raid sirens and getting lit up by the machine guns when you go into certain areas.

The "Discovery" map to me, seems like what Array should have originally been.

Another thing.

I paid 60$ for this game, why in the heck am I paying for a map pack? Shouldn't they be bending over backwards to please the consumer? ie: free map pack.

They know people will pay it. I agree that for $60 it should be free, but I'm not going to buy the map pack anyways so they probably don't care about my opinion.

The real question is, did Treyarch pull that a-hole move and put the maps on the disk?

You also bought the computer, shouldn't you get the game for free?

Seriously... those things take time and money to develop. Why should they have to give them away to you? Don't want them, don't pay for them; vote with your wallet. If people continue to pay for it, then they might as well keep on charging for it

I personally think that they should include all the maps that are included in the campaign mode in the multiplayer aspects.

I would love to have seen Khe Sanh and other maps from the campaign included in the multiplayer. This would eliminate the need for them to have to create new map packs only 3 months after the games release.

I too agree that map packs should be free. Though it costs money to develop the maps, I don't think it costs that much for them to create 5 maps. I'd be willing to hypothesize that the new maps were already developed prior to the games release and simply not included in the original game because they knew they could make a fortune on them.

These are maps that I'm certain were developed prior to release, and cut from the game because they were not as good as the other maps. Now we pay for them.

People are apparently willing to pay $15 for these map packs. I'd prefer the old $10 price though.

However, these map packs increase re-playability. Game developers have begun to embrace the GameStop used games model (they don't make money for each subsequent sale of the game) so by offering paid add-ons to the game, they are able to profit more from each game.

Well, it is true what was mentioned. As long as there are people willing to spend 15$ on it, they'll keep it so.

But hey, maybe they'd be nice and say 'Thanks guys for making us the most successful xbox franchise in the world. Here's a free map pack for you guys! And thanks from us!'

But alas, no. No free gift. Nothing free after buying an overpriced game.

You're point? It still took time for many people to collaborate on them and get them developed. Just because it happened with the original content doesn't make it any less valuable.

They're out to make money, being a business and all, not appease everyone. If you think it's over priced, don't buy it, plain and simple as that. To sit around and fall behind the mantra of "IT'S TOO EXPENSIVE!" but then turn around and pay for it anyway is not sending the company the right signal. Get people to vote with their wallet and when the bottom line is effected, then changes will likely happen.
Just like with pretty much anything else. That Fodera bass costs $10k? So what, someone is going to pay that for it. Just because you feel it's too much doesn't mean that they're suddenly going to drop the price on it.

I agree completely with what you said, but the unfortunate part is most people are too stupid to realize they're being ripped off or simply don't care and will continue to buy the maps. One person voting with their wallet in a case like this won't matter one bit to the developer because to them, they still made $2,000,000 rather than $2,000,015. You'd have to cut any profits they make on the maps in 1/2 for them to even break a sweat.
