I'm not posting this for political content. It is just interesting to see how relatively young Michael Tabor was considering that he made his mark almost forty years ago.

This really puts into perspective how much Sixties activism was truly a youth movement.

or, conversely, how many individuals stop growing/learning/contributing not long after they hit adulthood.

pretty common in my experience - folks of all ages are amazed that i've decided to go back to school at 42 to pursue further education, as if doing such a thing is unthinkably daring.

and at school i am surrounded by a bunch of very intelligent, motivated, dream-chasing young people less than half my age, and i can't help but think about how the vast majority of them are gonna be washed up, bored, uninspired cubicle jockeys bickering about hr memos or having the social highlight of their lives be the discussion around the coffee machine about whatever passes for prime time tv entertainment by the time they reach my age, just like most of the folks i went to college with the first time are now.

Activism is the only way to go. Hard to believe that the people changing the world then were my age.

I need to get on my game.

I always think about Dr. King, he was only 25 when he was organizing the Montgomery Bus Boycott.

That's a scary thought for me that so many people have accomplished so much by my age, and all I've managed to accomplish is being close to having a degree.

This is why color photographs and movies from wars are important.
People see veterans as grandpas. When they fought, most were less than 20.
