Maybe you can get away with that down south, but up here, we know how to wear suits properly. The north is gloriously bereft of hipsters |

Not all suits are the same a slim fit single breasted black suit with thin lapels like something from Givenchy or Balenciaga are designed so they can be worn casual. There not your daddies double breasted high waisted numbers with an unflattering block.

| | | | I had a friend in grad school who could pull off the suit-without-a-tie look so well that he made George Clooney look like a schlub in comparison.
Me? I'm not so lucky. While I've worn a blazer without a tie on many occasion to great effect, anytime I try to wear a full suit without a tie, I look like a detective from some cheesy early 80s prime-time cop drama.

Technically, a Windsor is just called a Windsor, which distinquishes it from a Half-Windsor. I wear a Windsor about 80% of the time and a Half-Windsor for most of the other time.

I may cut a little slack on the tie, but hell will freeze over before its ok to wear a t-shirt with a suit, no matter how many designers you can name drop. |

Patterned black or ink/ midnight blue are fine. Plain black can be okay when worn casually, but I'd say avoid it with a tie unless you are going for an undertaker look.

Seems everyone thinks they are in a Davidoff or Joop advert.
Black suits are fine. Just avoid a black tie. |
