If you don't know what you are in for, stay home. The guys who get paid to save you would rather not be out there because of you. One stuck car can close down the whole road, 4 wheel drive is for getting out of stuff, not getting through. If you need 4 wheel drive to get there, don't bother, most people don't have it and won't be going out in bad weather.

My brother and I used to spend hours pulling, digging or just driving stuck cars back onto the road during dangerous winter storms - but there were places we wouldn't go.

We have tornadoes and a squall heading our way according weather.com. Having lived in the midwest most of my life, I'm not really sure what to make of that the day after Christmas.

They have their moments. I used to live in Ft. Wayne and, while I've never seen snow fall a foot an hour, I do remember it getting to -40 deg. one year. I was a dish washer and my shirt would always be wet. The moment I would open the door and the cold air hit my shirt, it would freeze solid. I miss that. It was fun while it lasted.

We've got a really cold snap going on out here on the left coast. It's been getting into the 40s at night, and I don't even think the high will hit 60 degrees tomorrow.

That sounds like a routine day here in lovely Minnesota. It's funny when it snows in Ohio. Everything south of Cleveland and Toledo shuts down after 3-4 inches. I hope everyone rushed out to the local Kroger store to stock up on bread and milk.

10-4

And I'm not upset by that fact.

What they would call a normal snow we call something else.

So far about 6" and still coming down ,really wet ,good snowball and snowman snow.

I lived in Washington state for 8+ years ,I remember going thru areas of the state where the snow was ridiculous. They could say "IT DOESN'T SNOW IN MINNESOTA!" mt rainer paradise ranger station averages over 600" a season.

We don't sink tons of money in preparedness. This is the first snow we've seen in a year. So when it happens its a big deal .

We did have a blizzard in '78?....school was out at least two weeks . I was 10 at the time ,,,one of the best winters of my life . All we did was play in the snow without any of the adult responsibilities or worries.

Still NO SNOW at all on the ground in SW Michigan, and they say we might just get a whole 2" out of this thing today.........

Looks like there's something out west heading this way though.

Just remember: Start, Stop, and Turn slowly.

We've got about 2 inches and its still coming down pretty steadily.

I remember that blizzard of '78. I was in high school. That was awesome.

Looks like New England is going to get hit tonight. Well, there goes another band rehearsal down the drain!

Southeast Michigan here, only a light powdering so far, but it's not supposed to pick up til about 1. Lots of wind, though.

The roads are getting bad now and it's really coming down. The roads aren't awful, but part of the problem is that there are people out driving who don't have the skill for it.
