Blu Ray must haves?

Sign in to disble this ad
Slowly building up a collection of Blu-Ray movies. Obviously every movie should not get the Blu-Ray treatment. So far I have:

Inglorious Basterds
Casino Royale
Watchmen

What I want;
Blade Runner
Matrix
The Shining
Laurence of arabia
Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Kingdom of Heaven

I'm currently working my way through the HBO miniseries "John Adams" on Blu-ray. Not only is the show excellent, the Blu-rays are among the best video quality I've seen.

I hardly buy any physical copies any more. I have a Netflix subscription and am keeping both the streaming and disc rental options. If you want the BEST video and audio quality, nothing beats Blu-ray. I might buy John Adams though because it's that good.

Plan on getting any concerts? Any of the Rush ones are great, Dave Matthews Band has some good ones, David Gilmour Live, Jeff Beck Live At Ronnie Scotts.....all superb but of course you have to be a fan of the music first

I heartily agree. Not adopting another format. My upscaling DVD is as good as it is gonna get in mah cribb. As bandwidth gets better, so will Blu-Ray level streaming.

There's a bunch of episodes on Netflix, but none of it in HD, so I assume none on Blu-ray

I don't understand how these deserve "blue ray" treatment...the source film was recorded in nothing even close to the resolution that blue ray produces. So they just brighten and remaster the original film and call it Blue Ray so people will buy it. Unless the original film is recorded in the same format, total waste of $$ imo.

Yeah, I'm about 98% digital, but I still buy blu rays every once in awhile for things I really love and want to make sure I see in the best quality possible... sort of similar to buying vinyl.

No way. It's brighter, comes in way cooler packaging and logos than the VHS version you own of it now, and having a Blu-ray player and collection is oh so trendy right now.

I'm going to get Footloose and Pete's Dragon on Blu-ray.

ummm, only to collect 150 and sell those off too later? you can make your monitor/tv brighter without having to pay extra for it...

My vote also goes to Band of Brothers. Easily the best series I've ever seen.

These are all epic movies in their own sense. Having it in Blu-Ray just makes the viewing that more indepth.
