He had a long life, especially for a Black musician of his generation, but it is still sad to lose a pioneer.

I always remember seeing him and just being amazed about how fat his sound was. He was a living treasure as is his music.

RIP. I saw Bo back in the '80s, and he was great. Broke a string on his guitar, changed and tuned it while he was singing. A pioneer who doesn't get enough recognition.

A sad day in my household. I played with Bo from 1970 - 1992. My wife, Lady Bo played with him from 1956 - 1962 and then again from 70-92. I do have some great memories!

RIP Bo.

Wow! Much respect to you, sir, and your wife, you played with one of the all-time greats for a very long time. I bet you do have great memories.

I caught Bo in 1970 at Barney Googles on 88th Street (I think
it was) in NYC. Just walked in, had no idea he was going to be there.
Hat and square geetar.

Amos Garrett does a segment on the signature beat
Shave and a haircut, two bits on his Homespun Tapes
instructional DVD. Needless to say, I agree with Garrett that
Bo defined a signature musical beat, one that rock artists have
used for years.

Garret makes a great point in noting that this
beat is a counterpoint beat, and that most bands lose the
main swing beat and all play only the counterpoint. Amos
labels this the Garage Band Lurch, and admonishes
that only one player play the counterpoint at any given time.

You are "Brother Wally" the bass player that wore the big brimmed black hat and used to have a big moustache if my memory serves me well. I remember you from a show I taped that was on the A&E channel which was a concert that Bo did in Sweden, I believe it was. Lady Bo played on it and the drummer was "Brother Rick. You're a great bass player and that's a great show. I think you were playing a Kubicki bass on that show. That TV program also had some interview clips with Bo. I've been meaning to burn that tape to DVD. I'll have to hunt it up. I'll never forget the part where towards the end of the show, Bo climbed up on the drum riser and switched with Rick on drums and played for awhile then they switched back...never missing a beat between the two of them.
Great stuff. Hope you and Lady Bo are well.
Peace )-(
