On the other hand, I've always found the guy fascinating.

Over the years, Fischer gave occasional interviews with a radio station in the Philippines, often digressing into anti-Semitic rants and accusing American officials of hounding him.
He praised the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, saying America should be “wiped out,” and described Jews as “thieving, lying bastards.”
Fischer told reporters that he was finished with a chess world he regarded as corrupt, and sparred with U.S. journalists who asked about his anti-American tirades.
“The United States is evil. There’s this axis of evil. What about the allies of evil — the United States, England, Japan, Australia? These are the evildoers,” Fischer said.
Again, don't let the gates of hell hit you on the ass on the way in |

As a human being? I'd probably have smacked him down if I ever met him.
Does that mean that upon his death he should be disrespected? You decide. But as the man who just gave me an infraction for disrespect, if I were you I'd think twice about what I'm going to say |

Anyways, its a shame to see what had been such a great chess mind go, but its good to get rid of another bigot.
They always say there is a very fine line between genius and lunacy.

Personally, while I wished no ill will towards the guy while he was alive, I'll gladly admit that one doesn't need to be a politician for me to completely disrespect their views. To applaud the killing of a couple thousand people because of their country of origin is ignorant.
With that, I'm done. The guy passed and his opinions didn't really carry any weight on a large scale anyway. He was an interesting figure.
Mike
EDIT: see ya around, Morf

Mike | That's my initial point. I played a bit of chess in the past and greatly respect him as a chess player. Whatever his views are, if they're not related to chess, I'm not interested. |
