Body hair question

Sign in to disble this ad
Why is it that with the exception of the hair on top of your head, and facial hair, the rest of your body hair never grows past a certain point? Do we shed? And if so, why isn't the hair on our head and face as effected?

I think it's a genetic and hormone thing... my school biology lesson on the subject is a bit vague at this stage, but facial and bodily hair is controlled by hormones and head-hair is something else (sorry for getting over technical! )

Hair basically grows a certain length and stops. I personally am on the hairy-ier side on the hairness scale, and my hair from the chin down has never grown any longer than it is, whereas the hair on my head and facial hair grow at completely independant rates (my goatee growing far quicker than my head hair)

You're head hair has a longer growing phase than body hair, and therefore it gets to a greater length before it stops growing.

Hi.

Shaving/removing the hair stimulates the growth.

Ask any female who shaves her legs or a bit higher .

'tis a myth I'm afraid. It is just an illusion of faster growth.

Must be the most inconvinient illusion then .

Give it a decade or so and You'll possibly find out the hard way.
When they're young, they aren't telling us everything, You know.

Or perhaps it's only the Nordic females that have this "problem".
Doubt that though and UK isn't that far away anyway.

The fact of the matter is that as the growth or thickness of the hair starts increasing, you feel inclined to get rid of it. But the process continues, and so it appears as if shaving or plucking increases the problem.
