I played in my first pool tournament in years, probably 3 years, tonight. It was a somewhat spur of the moment, as I went bowling with a few people and there was a pool tournament, so I signed up. It was an elimination style, 8 ball tournament, just like I always used to play. I won my first two games rather soundly, which put me into the final against a guy that typically takes one turn to clean the table. I got to break and I sunk the 8 ball off the break, winning the final with one shot. There was no money involved, but it felt good to prove that I can still hold my own in a game of pool, as I haven't played with any consistency in the last year.

I used to play 5 to 10 games a day, but I maybe play 10 games a year now, so I was quite surprised.

Congratulations.

I love pool - it's such a mental game, where strategy and finesse are king.

I love pool and would kill to have a pool table in my basement. It's a skill like riding a bike...you may be rusty but with a little practice it all comes back to you.

I have one in my basement, but there is so much junk back there that there is no way to play. Which is fine, the table sucks, but it worked to get my skills up to par back in the day. The skills aren't where they are used to be, but I am sure that if I started playing a lot again, they would come back. I can't place the cue ball like I used to.

I still can't believe that I sunk the 8 ball off the break, I have only ever done that once before and that was just me and my dad playing. Nothing like the final of a tournament to pull out the most impossible shot in pool.

My uncle used to have a nice 9 ft. table and I used to go over there and get schooled by him when I was in high school. Then we got a table at the place where I lived and I got pretty good. I'd go to pool halls and win 3-4 in a row and then go home. I played about 2 weeks ago and while my eye was still pretty spot on, my long shots were horrible. I need another table to get to the place I used to be. I used to be able to legally jump balls and masse them around stuff but now I break the tips right off any more.

I used to do jump balls all the time, I tried one tonight, it didn't work at all.
