They are IME a real pain particularly when the environment doesn’t appear to need a directive type of management. I guess people have different approaches to management due to their personality but apparently the world is full of otherwise perfectly nice people feeling the need to be callous on their collaborators. Why is that in your opinion?
In the past I couldn’t stand such attitude for a second but I’ve made a bit of progress since I understand authority better.
I once confronted one of my operation managers by telling him he could answer like an adult without yelling unnecessarily!

Ended up being disciplined but later on presented my sincere apologies! He accepted and told me how sorry he was too! We have been good friends ever since.
