Any one else see it/plan on seeing it?

In my opinion, its much better than Borat. Funnier, more biting, the social commentary is stronger and more developed. Definitely a five star film, if you can stomach the images on screen.

Honestly, I really don't know how on earth they got away with an R rating.

I'm waiting to see this one too. I loved Cohen's early work as Ali G, the british episodes are really great. To me, Ali G is probably his best work, especially the early british shows even though it was a lot more stupid and a lot less international than his latter stuff. There was a lot of jokes that might not open to the majority of people, but to those who know what he was on about they were absolutely brilliant.

I just have to admire his pokerface and his skill of leading people where he wants them to go in the interviews.

i just got back from seeing it an hour and a half ago. as someone who has seen all his work (yes, even that "inda house" turd of a movie) i dont think it was as good as borat.

dont get me wrong, it was friggin hilarious, and if there really is an unrated version, i cant imagine how much extra dong footage there will be. bruno was always the lesser of the three characters, and i feel like it was more of a written movie than a series of interviews and events weaved into a story (again, compared to borat).

i dont know if that made sense, so, to clarify, it seemed like bruno got less access than borat did. maybe its the nature of the character, but it just seemed like borat got into stuff, and was able to drag it out a lot longer, and i like that.

again, im a huge fan, and the movie was awesome, but slightly less awesome than borat. i shall not spoil anything, but that last event he hosted nearly had me pissing my pants (not the thing that blended into the credits, the one right before that).

I thought Borat was very funny, but there is a part of me that wonders if Sascha Baron Cohen simply looks down his nose at all Americans? I wouldn't care if that is how he feels and I can laugh at myself, I still wonder what Mr. Cohen actually thinks of us.

Bruno is best described as a phrenetic phallic phrenzy.

I don't think he looks down his nose at anyone.

He makes fun of the British too:

And here he is as Ali G in Wales:

A buddy and I caught the midnight premier. As said before, if you can stomach the images on screen it's friggin hilarious and the social commentary is excellent. I too am questioning how they pulled an R rating with it though.

Don't plan on going to see it.
To me, it's a wait for the DVD type of movie.

I think SBC looks down his nose at stupidity, no matter where it comes from. He was making fun of stupid people in Europe long before he ever got big in the US.

Bruno is ok. It had some amazingly funny parts, and some down right creepy/scarring parts.

Have to agree with what some other people have said about not enjoying it as much as Borat or Ali G.

I saw the R rated version (they are moving to a 15yo rated version in the UK next week), I thought it was amusing and downright hillarious in some parts, but thought a lot of it seemed a bit forced and cobbled together. Overall, very watchable and laugh out loud funny, but not a great film. I'd put it in the Jackass category.

I plan on seeing it because the previews look funny.
I didn't particularly like Borat. Parts of it were funny but so much was disgusting. Maybe I wasn't in the right mood for it.
I don't know anything about Cohen but he reminds me of Andy Kaufman a bit. His comedy isn't always easy.

If you were disgusted by Borat, I wouldn't recommend seeing Bruno.

Didn't know they were moving to a 15 version in the UK. The film will only be half as long!

When I saw it yesterday there were quite a few looonnngggg periods of silence in the cinema, disgust or boredom, not sure. It certainly has a few high points tho.

After one or two bursts of laughter caused by one of friends everyone seemed to start laughing, it seemed to relax the crowd and let them laugh. It is a movie that is better watched with friends, but not family!

I thought Bruno was far better than Borat myself. The gags in Bruno push the limits a lot further and I loved all the negativity towards homosexuals. Granted, a lot of this is forced, though you have to admire the cleverness of SBC to push this out of people. I seriously laughed out loud all the way through.

I made the error of watching the movie with my parents. In fact it went like this: "hey, I'm going to the movies." "Oh great, we'll come too!". Let's just say they were surprised. The movie was hilarious. I lost it in the scene with the hunters and the painful silences.

I did like the movie, but I can't understand that it's only rated 12+ '(in Belgium).
