Brett's Retiring....Again

Sign in to disble this ad
Apparently Brett Favre has announced his retirement from football.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3898942

It's an old debate about him leaving the Packers and going to the Jets (Brett said he was exiled to NY). Whatever....

The article does mention some sort of desire of Brett wanting to go to the Vikings to play. While the thought of seeing #4 in a Vikings uniform makes me want hurl, I did see something interesting on the ESPN.com website. They are running a poll with the question, "Do you believe Brett Favre has really played his final NFL game?" The overall results are right around 70% yes and 30% no. You can see the results from each individual state and to a state, they are right around the 70/30 number....with the exception of Minnesota. Apparently Viking fans are holding out hope, because their results only show 56% yes and 44% no.

Maybe we can dig up John Hadl and trade him to the Vikings....

Jets fans...how much do you hate the decision your team made to give away so much for one season of a half-@$$ed QB that didn't even get you into the post season?

...I'd say "I told you so", but well...I DID...

Far-vuh is like school on Saturday: no class.

Good riddance to him .....

Now this may be slightly over the edge (considering I'm talking about the NYC area), but Farve(Favre??)just might be the most egocentric, arrogant, it's-all-about-me personality to ever play in the Big Apple (and there have been a lot of butt-holes that have come through here)

Get lost, go back to where ever you came from ....

JUST GET THE **** OUT OF FOOTBALL! I'm so tired of Brett Favre (it seems like it ought to be prononced fave-ruh like it is spelled, but I digress) and his whining and choking and I am sick to death of all the media pandering to his clownery. BEGONE YOU TIRED HAS BEEN! GO OUT WITH SOME FREAKING DIGNITY! Last year's farve nonsense was a slap to jets, packers and brett fans all, and I am none of those things but I am still apalled. This ass was even talking about going to MINNESOTA! good Lord, please dear God, no more Brett Farve crap! Now I have vented and I will not comment again until he signs with the Rams or Lions or some such BS.

LOL!

I still say if he plays for the Viqueens he is slapping every Packer fan who supported him for all those years.

If he just would have stayed retired last year, he would be the most loved man in the State of Wisconsin, by FAR. He would be viewed as a semi diety, and he ruined it all.

Yep. Had he just walked away he'd be beloved forever.

I can't even think of another athlete who ruined his reputation in such a short time period without doing anything illegal.

Oh, there's a big surprise!

As a Packers fan, I can say that Brett was a great QB. But thanks to all of the drama last year, and the fairly solid performance of Aaron Rodgers, I really don't miss the guy.

Reggie White.

Retiring- then going to Carolina. Then saying he wanted to go to the HOF as an Eagle.

The yammering "stereotype" tirade at the Wisconsin State Capitol.

The "collecting funds for my burnt down church and nothing ever came of it" thing.

It would be hard to disagree.

Why don't athletes just hang it up when they re on top instead of tryng to eek out one more season. I know, fame and $$, but seriously, no one respects him any more. Crying, pathetic piece of crap. Get out. And to the press - don't cover it. Let the story die.

I know it won't happen, but I can dream, right?

Because they love playing.

It's the grind of the off-season conditioning, the meetings, talking to the press and the overall grind of it that they don't want to (or can't) endure anymore. In music terms, it's still enjoying gigging but not wanting to put up with the drive or the setups or load outs anymore.

If a team will still pay a guy, I don't blame him for continuing on, even if he's clearly well on the downside of his career. What bothered me about Favre was how he couldn't make up his mind and turned to the media rather than keeping things in house.

Damn! I was hoping he would stay with the Jets for, oh, say, the next 25 years or so. Then the Pats would only have to worry about the Dolphins and the Bills!

I disagree to a point. They would only have to worry about Miami and themselves . Next year, man, next year.

Big Packer fan here that seriously wouldn't mind seeing Brett in a Vikings uniform, in '09. The Packers have plenty of 'receivers' on defense, that would catch his passes, lol.

Favre holds all the stats, but Starr has all the rings.
