Everyone knows that the USPS website SUCKS. Half the time, it's down or working at a crawl. It won't remember your password. Making a prepaid label takes forever. When it's working the address book takes forever to come up. Even with a credit card on file, you must give the STUPID system your 3 number code EVERY time you use it.
I was just making some USPS labels in Paypal and realized I can just edit any address in the system to any address I need The PP system is fast, your payment info is on file and or it deducts it directly from your account.
This might not sound all that important but I ship quite a few T-Shirts and hats via USPS Priority. I can already see this discovery saving me LOTS of time and aggrivation by eliminating the use of the *$@)& USPS site. Just thought I'd share this with my TB OT homies |

I hate the fact that the mail carrier in my neighborhood leaves snotty notes for me when I leave the eight billion catalogs that I get, at the apartment mailbox kiosk. I'm doing everything that I can to eliminate mail from my life. All of my bills that are eligible are ebills. I'm thinking of doing what Kramer did and filling my mailbox with bricks.

I do contract work for the government and I'm constantly amazed at the extreme levels of incompotence that I see.

That makes for many days that I can't bring checks to the bank. Again, some might not think this is a problems but when you're self employed and big checks arrive through USPS, it SUCKS |

As a Army Civilian employee (one of the competent ones, mind you ), I see this kind of stuff all the time.

"Civilian Army..." Maybe I'm incompetent after all.
EDIT: I fixed the original.

I've worked for universities for 28 years - another category of gummint worker, including me - and I've found them to be a hard-working, caring set of people who do their best to cope with policies and procedures that are often frustrating and time-consuming.
Although when I go into the USPS site nearest me, I find myself thinking about the repetitive nature of their work, and the legendary thoughtlessness of their managers. I sincerely hope that those factors are not present at the post office here. The folks there seem decent and helpful, and I'd like to think their managers are competent. As with most horror stories, I believe there are usually a few idiots who earn their company/agency a bad reputation.
The USPS website is nothing special, but I've never had trouble getting shipping estimates from it - and that's what I use it for.

As a Army Civilian employee (one of the competent ones, mind you ), I see this kind of stuff all the time. | Some of the emails that I see in my organization are so gramatically incorrect that they are very difficult to read. I got one a few days ago from a GS12 (that's pretty high up on the food chain for those who don't know). The grammer was terrible. Lot's of "I be doing" and "I don't know no" and little to no punctuation. Aside from a period, the punctuation that he did use was wrong. Plus the guy even spelled my name wrong three times in the email. My name is Matt, btw. And as if that weren't enough, the email was a forward that was sent to him from another GS, who was asking him for a document that he is responsible for sending. He forwarded the email to me because he didn't bother even reading the thing. He automatically assumed it was a document that I produce.
Unfortunatley, this jackass is one of very, very many.

Heck, I'd blame the bank for not being open.
