Anybody here familiar with the Bronx Zoo? It is about a 3 hour drive for me to get there, and am trying to figure out if I should get a hotel nearby. Anybody have any suggestions? Walking distance, shuttle, or even a short subway trip would be fine. I've done as many google searches as I can but I'm not finding much info on this. Any help would be appreciated. |

Can anyone offer any real advice here, or am I just wasting my time? |

I don't understand how the can have this giant world class zoo, and no reasonable accommodations nearby? I'm finding nothing but seedy motels. I really don't want to have to drive down there for 3 hours, walk around for 7 hours, and then drive three hours home. I'd rather have a nice hotel to go back to and rest up before driving home the next day.

From just looking more, my best option might be to stay in Fort Lee, MJ and drive the 5mi over the bridge. |

My grandparents used to take me to the Bronx zoo, back in the day. As I recall, and it has been a LONG time, there is not much in the way of nice hotels in that area. You can stay in Manhattan and take the train (subway) to the zoo.
Or drink lots of caffeine and drive it home, for a lloonnngggg day.
Sorry to not be of much help.

Find a spot in Westchester County like Yonkers, New Rochelle or Mount Vernon and commute in to the zoo. Seriously. I grew up in Mount Vernon. Nothing but cheesy motels in the Bronx. Zero luxury accommodations! |
