I think there's a couple names on my ignore list but they've long been banned or have stopped posting.

I haven't (and most likely will never) use either, though I've been threatened to be put on an ignore once. But I hella learned my lesson.

Yeah, some of those threads can be pretty entertaining to read!

Some of my favorites are the ones where the OP is bemoaning the state of mainstream music and half the posters jump his case for saying such terrible things about pop and dance music. I don't step in and take a side, but I wait with anticipation the first post that claims that millions of teenagers can't be wrong, so to speak. Then I nearly erupt with glee when someone draws the conclusion that *insert pop star here* is better than *insert classic rock or country icon here* because of record sales!

Then, BAM! and they're off!

Those debates always make me smile!

I've heard of this feature. How does it work? Does it just not show posts in threads from people you choose to ignore? Does it block PM's? No intention of ever letting anyone get to me to the extent that I'd ever use it, just curious at to how you'd actually use it.

I don't use those lists. I prefer to laugh at people.

Never. Ignore lists are for children.

So what purpose does a 'buddy list' serve?

It makes their posts appear in rainbow colors.

The only ones I'd put on my ignore list don't play the bass and I'm pretty sure they never will...

Yeah, I've used the ignore function. Given how often I'm here, I consider my usage of it to be incredibly rare. There are just a few folks I find inherently unreasonable--it has much less to do with how much I (dis)agree with their opinions than how they express them, though--and TB is more pleasant when I don't read their posts. If someone feels they're tougher or more mature because they don't use the function, good for them.

Only about half my list is there for the above reason, though. The other half of the names are there as a reminder to myself not to do business with them after seeing their take on a few ethical issues in the gear-buying arena.

I don't think I've ever used either function, but there is one TB'er who have contemplated putting on my ignore list for a long time now. He just can never be wrong in any thread, even when it's clear to everyone else that he is. I guess I can be that way, myself, but at least I have the common sense to know when to bow out of a thread. This guy just can't quit until he literally has the last word by driving everyone else away.

There's only one person like that on TB? LOL. Those guys are like this:

I like flicking those little dangly nerve endings. I've never used either function, though.

So how does the ignore list actually work? I seem to remember someone saying that you can still see that the poster posted, but can't actually see what they posted?

What if somebody quotes said post? Just wondering, out of curiosity.

Can't say I've used either feature myself.

Now that sounds like a very good reason to use the function!

You might be talking about the one person on my ignore list.

Yes, you see when they post in a thread, but you won't see the content of their post, unless someone quotes it, and then you can see it.
