This Budweiser pep-talk commercial irritates me

Sign in to disble this ad
The coach pep-talk ads are on constant rotation on my sports radio station, and the line I can't stand [spoken in a disgusted voice] is, "you don't want to be that guy that has to turn in early because he has work the next morning - nobody wants to be that guy". The crowd soon-to-be rolling in the office with bloodshot eyes after three hours sleep reeking of booze cheer on. The ad ends with the obligatory "please drink responsibly".

I've been the guy stumbling into the office reeking, hell, I would have martini lunches on Fridays, but I learned that doing such is not drinking responsibly.

EDIT: Well, this thread apparently is boring.

A boring thread topic is a fail in and of itself, but the idea that the promotion of getting ----faced during the workweek all while selling the "drink responsibly" theme is a bit of a disconnect to say the least.

They want your money, they don't care if you drink yourself into stupidity. Because of the tax income, the more the merrier so to speak, government will rubber stamp it, they can't afford not too

As I understand it, making a successful TBOT thread involves one or more of the following characteristics:

1. A grave social injustice to a minority. The ideal injustice would be to a gay black female, who was discriminated against because of her orientation, race, and gender. Any good discrimination will suffice, however.

2. A linked article from some external "news source" describing a ridiculous event, such as a slur, or frivolous suit, or misuse of funding.

3. The linked article must incite. Examples include but are not limited to: vapid pop stars being paid large sums of money for "speaking" engagements, vapid children of politicians, the TSA groping your kid, offensive slurs by retired airport workers, etc.

Please see the work of Dr. Cheese - he is quite adept at making lasting TBOT threads. Threads promoting calm, reasonable behavior, while beneficial, and probably describing >90% of TBOT readers do not incite, nor can they be responded with vitriolic remarks. The thread must also be of the highest altruistic nature possible - the thread lamenting the suit of Apple by Real Player died quickly, i.e., the highest feel-goodery index.
