Cable/Zip Tie Question

Sign in to disble this ad
What's the best way to cut them when they are super tight? I bought some cables and they are bounded together by a super tight zip tie and I want to get it off w/o damaging the goods. Thanks.

Chris.

Diagonal cutters.

You should be able to snip the zip tie without cutting the cables. Just be careful and try not to cut all the way through and past the zip tie.

Use dikes to cut the head, or whatever it's called, the part with the ratchet in it. Just destroy it's ability to hold on, and it will let go.

What Chunk-o-Funk said.

Cut the end as flush with the ratchet as you can. That way you don't have exposed sharp corners left behind to cut you (or someone else).

Sorry, that second bit of advice was for placing a cable tie, not removing one.
