Camera Geeks: Sigma DP1 fixed lens digital? POV?

Sign in to disble this ad
Id like a pro-level digital point and shoot (vs. carrying around my Nikon DSLR)

I was pumped to get this camera: the foveon (spelling ?) digital sensor concept sounded really cool. However the reviews seem dreadful (slow focus, really slow transfer to memory). Any TB'r try one yet?

I enjoy Sigma glass, getting a 50mm prime for my Canon soon. But I didn't even know they made cameras.

They've been trying to get the foveon sensor flying for a few years now in DSLR bodies, but the past ones IIRC have had too low pixel rate for professional use which has been keeping them down. This is the first integrated model I've heard of.

Check out the Canon G9 or the Ricoh GX100.
