I need to find 100 of these, preferably cheaper than $69.

TRENDnet | Products | Wireless Print Servers | TEW-P1UG

It is for a law enforcement agency. Anything exist like an "educational discount" but for government/law enforcement? We are a small independent software business.

Thanks!

Newegg has them for $69, call them up and see if you can get a bulk discount, since you'd be buying a whole slew of them. Most retailers like Newegg or Tigerdirect can swing deals like that from time to time on large orders.

If it for law enforcement, then you should ditch the wireless completely.

It may sound like a hassle but the truth of the matter is that it will be less of a hassle laying CAT6 cable than fighting a lawsuit because some skript-kiddie intercepted sensitive information only to let the world to see.

I'm inclined to think you're not software security experts if you're asking about which hardware to use.

As Longhair says, if it's for law enforcement, don't go wireless unless it's absolutely necessary and you have some off-the-charts encryption going on.

I would think that if you tell the router to hide the SSID once everything is setup, that it would add another measure of security. More along the lines of the 'out of sight, out of mind' principle. Plus, you'd need to know the SSID of the network to even connect to it while it's hidden. I'm a fan of wired connections over wireless myself, but if it's a matter of logistics, budgeting, or time constraints where wireless is the better option, you can work around the 'security issues'.

Holy crap I didn't even know they still made those.
I "inherited" a network in a 100 year old catholic school plagued by these things in college, trust me, run cable.

These POS are not worth the trouble.

RUN CABLE

If you don;t you will be doing a service call on them 8 times a day.

RUN CABLE

Or hell, all the computers on the same network?
Just share the printers them from the nearest computer.

Yeah I asked about that, and apparently we can't run cable. (outdoor maybe?) I'm just the buyer, not the contractor or installer. :\

Walk away from it then saying that you do not want to be named in any lawsuits that will arise from an insecure network.
