Can somebody recommend me a video editing software

Sign in to disble this ad
I started shooting videos as a new hobby and I am not sure which video editing software should I get, I bought a HD Camcorder and a desktop but I still confused on what software is the best for me, I have narrowed it to:

- Adobe Element Premiere 10
- Ciber link power director
- Corel Pro X4

User reviews are mostly the same for all three: either they suck or they are great. Magazines reviews said all three are fantastic. Does somebody here with experience on any of these software that can give me a recommendation, I will be editing home videos I dont need a pro software but I dont want a basic one neither. If it matters, my camcorder is a Cannon Vixia HF Full HD and my desktop specs are: Intel i5 core @ 3.00GHz, 6GB DDR3 ( can upgrade till 16GB) , 1TB Hardrive and NVIDIA GeForce with 1GB discrete video memory.

Of those I would choose Adobe if I could swing it financially. There's going to be a lot more assistance out there for it in the ways of how-to's and such. When I switched to shooting HD video i just broke down and got a Mac , best thing I have ever done.

Peace,
Greg

I use Premier Pro nowadays. Its a great suite, and with the way After Effects and the Adobe authoring tools all work and integrate together it makes it fairly versatile.

I did use Sony Vegas for years before though. It is probably easier to use, especially for simple stuff.

I have no experience with those three. My $99 Sony Vegas from eBay has served me well on my IBM laptop...

I agree, but alas the OP isn't in the market for a Mac.

Premier Elements of the three you have listed. I have used that well on my Toshiba laptop. Having said that, I currently use Avid/Pinnacle Studio. It runs about 99 USD and does a lot of cool stuff.

If you can swing around 120, the AVID ( formerly Pinnacle, formerly.... ) studio is a good choice. I think you still get a green screen too.

I use whatever I'm paid too, Final Cut, AVID, Premiere Pro, Vegas..etc...

Although I find Adobe a total pain in the ass when it comes to licensing, Premiere is the pick of the three you have listed.

If you can upgrade to Premiere Pro, do it. Chances are that Final Cut is WAY too much money.

If Adobe elements does not work out ( sometimes is complicated), try muvee Reveal x, Its super simple to use, and uploads your stuff right to youtube.

Just some food for thought!
