What's wrong with your bass that can't be fixed within a few hours?

You're asking someone to lend their bass to you, but you're saying no SX, Squier, Schecter or Ibanez?
Beggars can't be choosers my friend. I'd be over the moon if I needed a bass on short notice and someone offered to lend me any bass by those brands.

Ummm..no Schecter or Squier? And why would that be? Surely you can't be implying that they aren't fit for playing on the "big stage" (yes, I love my Schecter studio-5 thankyou very much)

All I lend out is Yamaha

As a matter of fact, I bought a yami just for lending.
Your bass is broke? What specifically is broken?

Beggers can't be choosers and beggers should be schmoozers.

Maybe as the show grows closer he will lower his standards

No offense to anyone, but just read a little more carefully. I'll repost what I said, I may have not been too clear.

I have another friend's Yamaha that I can use if I have to, I just don't like it all that much. (although it's a great quality instrument)

So basically, I have one I can use and mine COULD be repaired, but I'm in the market for a new bass anyway so I'd like to ulitmately buy one or test drive one that I would be buying.

I list those other brands as not for me because I have not liked any of the ones that I have ever tried for various reasons, and the Yamaha that I can borrow I would like better.

Why not ask a music store. Some stores may have decent rental policies, plus if you rent from a store maybe they can cut you a deal on a keeper.
