Can you get drunk off liquor filled chocolates?

Sign in to disble this ad
I saw this cognac filled chocolate in the gourmet section of a supermarket here and it piqued my interest, as I'm quite interested in wines. It's something on the lines of this (but not exactly). But, if I do have it, it will be my first experience with liquor of any kind, in any form, ever.

Could I get drunk eating it? Should I even have it in the first place?

Thanks!

Not enough alcohol. You might die of a caffeine overdose from the chocolate before you become drunk from the alcohol.

No, you can't. At all.

But they are tasty. One step closer to being a fatass, but they are chocolate evils, so that is to be expected.

I've always heard that the average healthy adult liver can process one ounce of alcohol per hour.

With that being said, there probably isn't very much alcohol in those chocolates.
The idea of getting drunk from eating chocolates with a little bit of liquor in them is ridiculous.

I've had Whiskey chocolates, and the amount of alcohol used is so little that you can't even taste it. It just gave the chocolate some flavor.

At Christmas dinner a few years ago, my aunt (who is known for her gourmet cooking) made a cake with a ton of Whiskey or Kahlua (I can't remember.) in it, and it was quite strong.
I was actually a bit worried about getting too buzzed, because there must have been a full bottle of (Whiskey or Kahlua) in that cake, and I was having two slices.

I beg to differ with you. I worked for a Swiss company that always had an inventory of chocolate. Many of them had liquors in them. Each one had about half a shot in them and I could DEFINATLY feel a good buzz coming on if I ate 5 or 6 of them......which was very easy to do.

You'll be sick to your stomach long before you get more than a light buzz even if you only suck the liquid and discard the chocolate shells. I know, I was young and there was a bet involved.

Very tasty stuff. It's better outside of the chocolate IMO, but in chocolate its pretty damn tasty.

I drink Hennesy, straight from the freezer, almost the consistency of heavy syrup, when I want a social sipper at home. Delicious. I could imagine it being great in a chocolate.

I think I should throw in a poll for some solid results.

Why?

I don't think anyone believes you are going to get drunk, no matter how many you eat.

i certainly couldnt, but then at the height of my drinking i would have a litre bottle of vodka in a fairly short sitting

but

i am completely abstinent from alcohol now and i certainly wouldnt eat a chocolate of that kind now

i dont know if they are different in the US to here, but the ones i used to enjoy just as a chocolate, the liquid was i estimate 20% alcohol

cheers

See post #7.

Plus, a poll looks pretty cool.

I just hope "posting polls without any reason" isn't a break of rules on TB.

Bleuh...

I crave sweets and I like the booze okay, but IME too much of the former combined with the latter is just gross.

If you were to get wasted on liquor filled chocolates, I'll bet the hangover would be really something else.

To see their full potential, watch Blind Date.

If you're talking about the little chocolate bottles filled with straight liquor, yes you can get drunk on them. I did it when I was about eight. Ate a whole bunch.

Glad I'm not the only one... I was about ten I think.
"Hey, there's chocolate in the freezer!"
