Does anyone know of a way to shut off the caps lock button on standard Windows keyboard? If there is one?

save this as a text file with the extension .reg
run it to import into the registry

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout]
"Scancode Map"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,02,00,00,00,00,00,3a,00,00,00,00,00

You take a screw driver and pop the key off the keyboard.

Who do I send the invoice to?

You can also remap the key to nothing or something else like shift.

Remap the CapsLock Key or any Key in Windows XP, 2000, Vista and 2003

Still easier to remove the key.

All Windows users should install SharpKeys

On every fresh install of Windows it's the first tool that goes on to remap the Caps Lock and Num Lock keys. I turn the caps lock into Right Alt and Num Lock into Tab. Makes for much easier data entry and a more varied way to enter things like @ on my Swedish keyboard.

Caps lock annoys me, and Num Lock is possibly the most stupid hold over from the old PC. When would I ever NOT want the number keys to function as number keys?

You might want to get rid of that link. I got a "Malicious Website Blocked -This is a known mailicious web site. It is recommended that you do NOT visit this site. The detailed report explains the security risks on this site." error message from my Norton security program.

Maybe the link is bad, but Sharpkeys is a piece of software I can vouch for. Google it instead!

Anyway, CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL.

So your Norton security program can't tell the difference between a useful low-level utility and a malicious web site. This is the reason I never let anything but myself decide what sites may be bad. There is nothing wrong with that site whatsoever, I can assure you!

Look, all I know is what came up on my screen. I see no reason why I should disregard my security program on your say-so. Maybe you're right, and my Norton security has made a mistake, but there's no way for me to know that. I'd rather be safe than sorry.

My Logitech keyboard has an option to deactivate legacy keys such as caps lock, scroll stop and pause. It's cool.

I pull my caps lock keys off, scrape off "Caps Lock" (why is that not all in CAPS?) and write in "YELL".
