car audio/electical? help!

Sign in to disble this ad
the speakers on the drivers side of my car with the exception of the tweeter are not working.

is the culprit a fuse, bad wiring, the speakers themselves?

i don't know.

i just noticed this today because i played a cd instead of listening to sports radio.

the possible cause of the stereo malfunction: during the month of December a freak rain storm and faulty seal caused my trunk to flood. the water was sloshing around back there for a couple days before i noticed.

i know im a bad car owner and should have my driving privileges revoked and my man card suspended.

It's hard enough to diagnose what's going on with a bass amp over the internet, let alone car audio. It could be a fair amount of different things.

Radio programming has been gradually moving to the Right.

Probably corroded wires from when your car was flooded. But again, could be anything...

It's pretty simple... take your door panel off and test the speaker.
If it's still good, test the wiring AFTER where its splits from c/o to tweeter.

I doubt the radio has independent channels for tweeter and woofer, so this is the likely track to take.

Is there a crossover splitting the signal to a mid or bass speaker and then to the tweeter? Try another speaker with the tweeter wires first. If you get no audio, I'd check the crossover.

Factory audio or aftermarket?

Stay tuned for the "how do I check if a crossover works?" thread.

if you replace it and that doesn't fix the problem.
