Car Question

Sign in to disble this ad
Long Version
If you saw my post about a week or so ago, you know I have acquired a new ride. The very nice 1992 Lincoln Mark Vii:Bill Blass edition. In the mean time I still have my GMC and I want to scrap it (engine blown) so Im getting all the goodies out of it. The Lincoln has a new radio head unit but still has the factory speakers. The GMC has some very nice Pioneer speakers that I bought for it a year ago. The thing is that the factory speakers in the Lincoln are very good, and Im not sure if what I have in the GMC is better. From what I remember, the GMC speakers were slightly better, but it is also a truck so I was closer to the speakers while riding in it thus they seam louder. I cant turn them on now because the truck is completely dead. So I am trying to figure out the specs on the factory speakers that came in the Lincoln so I can compare the two and decide if I want to put the GMC speakers in the Lincoln or just sell them. Does anyone happen to know where I can find that info? Tryed googling it and got a lot of stuff wanting me buy sound equipment, but obviously nothing that told me what the originals were.

Short Version
Does anyone know where I can find the specs on the factory speakers in a 92 Lincoln Mark Vii Bill Blass edition?

No photo no car?

It is pretty cool. Lots of gadgets. The only drawback is that it eats gasoline pretty fast.

Specs for the factory speakers? Not likely. Especially on a car that's 17 years old.

A jar of farts is quite useful when needing to clear a crowded room.

It's been a few years, but Best buy and similar stores use to have a "kiosk" in the car audio dept that would show you which models were compatible. As far as my knowledge....GM used to favor 6x9's and I never owned an older Ford, so i couldn't tell you. I'd stick with what you have unless it really sucked.

I'd ride it but I wouldn't have the dough to put gas in it

The core problem here is you referred to Pioneer speakers as "very nice".

That is what I was thinking. You can spend $600 on pioneer speakers or $150 on Alpines and have the same quality. Scrap everything you have, but some nice alpines, a 150x2 amp some speaker wire and a Saturday's worth of time and you will have a system that puts all of your friends cars to shame. Add subs to your liking, but stay away from a bandpass box.
