Well, I had a 1:00 tee time today, and was trying to get fresh guacamole made for a party here later tonight. I got the avocados, tomatoes, red onion, and cilantro all cut up (albeit rushed) with no problems.

... On comes the pepper. I was running super late and try to blow through it. It's only a tiny, harmless pepper, right? Well, in my sloppy cutting with my ridiculously sharp Santoku knife, I sliced some of my damn fingernail clean off. This thing almost bled like I sliced my jugular. Amazing. Well, I was late for my tee time, and got crushed in the round... And ruined my khakis with blood stains.

Anywho, no pics, no slice. These are from hours later, post shower...

Ouch. Those Santoku knives are ridiculously sharp, but I love mine.

But I usually try to keep my fingers out of the way

Yeah, for sure, that would have been disasterous.

Sounds awesome. Where are you studying and what are you getting your Doctorate in?

I'll be working up your way in Hackettstown... we should grab a beer or six sometime.

Sorry Eric, but I'd be willing to bet you'll always have a reminder of that one. I have three kinda odd looking fingernails. Two are from my broken fingers in December '07, and the other is from tearing one off about 15 years ago. That ones starting to look a bit more normal now, though. Regardless, good luck w/ the healing.

Nothing a bandaid and a second glove couldn't cover. I think this thread is a veiled attempt to brag about the fact that you have friends and that you're gonna have a party so you can look cool. The finger is just a ploy to give you a goto topic when you're failing with the ladies.

What are you gonna cut with that? Jeez. Didn't you take ANY standardized tests in school?

Question 1) Which one of these things is not like the others?

The first two items were things that cut or slice, NOT things every fifth TBer needs advice to get.

Mike

EDIT: Uh, sorry about the finger, Eric. If you plan on showing that to a girl, make sure you don't mention that you suffered it while making guacamole.

In order to prevent any accidents, I like my tools curvy and sexy without a lot of sharp edges. It takes a long time cutting things, but they're great for screwing things.

Eric, You might also want to reassure her that you have nine other fingers at her disposal that are free of festering sores. That usually gets em all hot and bothered.
