Here's a thread I made about the Cosmos series I made a while back: http://talkbass.com/forum/showthread...ghlight=cosmos |

My father is a science/tech geek (he's a Mech Eng that designs actuators for Aerospace and Robotic applications in the NASA and .mil realm)... growing up in the 70s in my home, Carl Sagan was (and still is) an inspiration. |

Wonder if CERN will help us define the standard model further. I think I have some Cosmos VHS tapes around. Had an undergrad research work on the magnetostatic effect in yttrium iron garnet. A quantum electron spin effect. Oh the old days!!

I watched Sagan one in a TV interview once and was astonished to find that he was the most arrogant, obnoxious a-hole I had ever seen on TV to that point, which was really saying something.
Overrated self-promoter, one of the 20th Century's great egos, according to some I've heard who worked around him..

I agree with Bongo, but I'm completely OK with him having an ego. |

My most favorite book by any author is his Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors.
Sure he had a big ego. But it ain't bragging if you can do it.
And speaking of big egos, Isaac Asimov once said that Carl Sagan was the only person he ever met who was smarter than he was.
