Tried it. Does NOT live up to expectations. I didn't really dig it that much.

I agree. It sounds good on paper, but ends up way too greasy.

I'm not opposed to the concept of getting a grilled cheese sandwich at a drive-thru.

As far as Im aware, what Carls Jr is offering up is NOT a grilled cheese. Thats a grilled meat & cheese. No equivalent found on ANY kids menu.

I thought it was pretty dang good. Most definitely not grilled cheese however. It's a burger with a LOT of cheese.

That's not a grilled cheese.

Bread + Cheese = grilled cheese

Other ingredients are unacceptable.

+1.

WTH? Have their ad guys never had a proper grilled cheese sandwich? There's NO burger in it.

That's a cheeseburger w/ extra cheese.

They should just call it 'That Really Cheesy Burger'

The first time I heard the ad on the radio I thought 'Sweet, something I can eat at Carls Jr.' Then I got the ad in the mail with a picture of it and immediately said 'Thats not a grilled cheese'

that would be a grilled tomato sandwich with cheese. if there's anything other than condiments i between the bread then the cheese becomes a modifier rather than the focus of the sandwich.

Have you ever tried putting Mircal Whip inside with the cheese? Gives it a nice zing to the flavor.

Personally, I like to grill the tomatoes first, then make the sammich and grill that. I also prefer nice, thick slices of bread; none of this paper-thin Sunbeam crap!

Yup. This. That is in no way a grilled cheese sammich--it's a cheeseburger.

(Although I somewhat disagree with this post; grilled cheese can be good with tomato, avocado, etc. Still, when you put a patty on it, it's no longer grilled cheese.)
