Cars are Stupid!

The clutch has a different resistance to the accelerator, but you need to have he correct balance between the two in order to make the thing move and your left leg is stretched out further and it's like arrhg!

Learning to drive is hard!

I wonder if there's a commercially available kit to convert cars to work via an xbox controller. It would make my life a lot simpler.

You could also switch to an automatic.

That would be easier, but it's not the thing over here, most cars being manual.

And your steering wheels are on the wrong side as well. I learned to drive on a right hand drive, MANUAL Mini by the way The magic wand shifter was a beautifully VAGUE thing indeed. I was zipping up and down our road when I was about 13. About the same time, I learned the magic of the E brake turn

It's not really a balance thing. You just have to find the friction point in the clutch when you are starting out. In first gear at a stop just slowly let the clutch out until you feel the car start to move, then slowly apply the gas while continuing to slowly let the clutch out. After that it's just all about rhythm.

I'm starting to wish I'd started to learn sooner, I think I would've benefited from the slightly increased capacity to learn.

Stick shift is fun to learn. I didnt learn it til a few years ago though, about 5 years after I learned to drive.

I bought the car without knowing how to drive it. I rode in it and test drove it with my dad. That was the 1st time I had ever driven a manual shift vehicle. The next day I was out driving around learning myself. It was pretty easy to pick up.

God no, it's cost me £50 for the provisional. Then it's £31 for the theory test, £62 for the practical and the actual final license is free.

Nothing is more fun than holding a cigarette in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other and driving a manual transmission vehicle in heavy traffic.

Driving 'stick to stick', an art form in some cultures.
