Have you ever looked back at a show or cartoon, and find certain references or jokes you didn't really get when you first saw it? I've found tons! Here's one, from the cartoon Recess Recess Episode 2 The New Kid - YouTube (at 5:46)
In this episode, the character Gus feels rejected by many of his schoolmates for being a new kid at school. At the 5:46 mark, the dialogue goes:
-Mikey- Look at the bright side...lots of people have gone throughout life without names, and they've done fine!
-Gus- Oh yeah, like who?
-Mikey- Well, like the artist formally known as "Prince", the Unknown Soldier, the other four guys in the Jackson Five...
lol definitely did not get that quip as a kid, but obviously looking back on it, I now do. Anyone else experience something like this? |

Sometimes ss an adult one gets past me, like in family guy:
Peter: "Meg, when I'm done with you, you'll be beating guys off with both hands."
My cousin pointed out that double entendre. |

Then again, I remember almost all such jokes from Recess, because it was my favorite cartoon show by far.
The jokes I honestly did not get were the innuendos in PPG and Spongebob. I still don't get them sometimes

The deal was there used to be guys walking around wearing "sandwich boards", signs advertising various shops, as a fairly commonplace thing post-WWII. It's like how now you'll see "sign wavers" at intersections, advertising a big sale at Mattress World or Subway. |

| | | | There was that one episode of The Grim adventures of billy and Mandy that had that reference to 'once in a lifetime' by the talking heads. Actually, after I started reading lovecraft I started picking up on a lot of references in that show. Definitely one of my favorite cartoons growing up.

| | | Rocko's Modern Life was full of jokes!! I remember the doctor weasel who was named Dr. Ben Dover. Rocko halluconates on his medication... Mrs. BigHead almost cheats on Ed... They go into the bedroom and Ed throws plates while Mrs. BigHead breaks em with her tongue and they make sexual noises. I got as em as a youngster... I still find it just as funny

"Patrick! Your genius is showing!"
Patrick then proceeded to cover his crotch and scream "where?" Frantically.
Took me a few views as a young kid to get the reference!
