The casino gave Chavez a free breakfast, a room for the night and a refund of the $20 that she put into the slot.
Oh, THAT'LL make it all better.

I think they should at least give her the stated capped prize.

For what? A technical malfunction? It would have been already stated the machines prize cap.

Does anybody get the sense that there are thousands of shifty lawyers making a bee line for this woman as we speak? I agree with the Dark one in that she should, and probably will, get the stated cap prize.

EDIT Just checked - the capped prize is $251k (thanks for that - this wasn't mentioned in the article I read earlier today). I'd sue for that, plus emotional wear and tear. She should be good for a million bucks or so. I wish her luck.

About $251,000.

It's not a £42mil but it's still a good chunk of change.

It sounds like the malfunction was that the machine let someone win. Oops, that wasn't ever supposed to happen.

They should just pay her the cap and be done with it.

Next time I lose in Vegas I'll just snatch my chips back and claim that my bets were the result of a cognitive malfunction. I'm sure that won't get my thumbs broken

Who makes $12,000 a year and can still afford to go to the casino? I say take the $20 back from her and charge her for the room and breakfast for being such a dumbass.

They don't say if she actually lined up the winning combination of her game or did the machine just start flashing the jackpot.

Either way, I don't know how it is there, but here in Vegas every single machine has this on it:
"Malfunction voids all pays and plays".

She's probably S.O.L.

Yeah seriously...

Yet another reason to not throw my money away in a casino. I love black jack but the min bets are too high for me...I usually just spend $20 in the quarter slots while drinking as many free whiskeys as I can and chain smoking, even if I loose my $20 I usually drink at least that much.

Comped drinks? In Atlantic City you sit at the machine/table and a young lady comes around and asks what you would like to drink...she gets it for you and you tip her a dollar (or more if your a high roller and looking for some action). I usually go with the Whiskey or a Gin and Tonic, the beer selection isn't great and the Vodka Redbull isn't really Vodka Rebbull (at least at Ceasar's)

I'm guessing you've never had their Denver omelette.

I'd hope they'd at least give her the machine max.

I can't see why she would not be entitled to the $251k. Considering T.I.A. (this is America), if she doesn't get it she'll probably find someone to sue.

If she gets it, she might still sue, just for SnG.

If she can get the $251K out of them, that's about 21 years pay for her. That's fair enough.
