We put our 18 year old cat to sleep last week and had our carpet shampooed. After the carpet dried, one of the rooms had many urine stains where our cat must have peed. Toward the end of his life, he couldn't navigate the stairs to his litter box. We wonder if we let him go on this way for too long...
Does anyone have any suggestions in how to remove the urine stains? |

The only other thing I can think of is to douse the carpet with ortho home defense spray (for some odd reason it can remove the strangest of things from surfaces/fabrics), then douse with scalding oxyclean water, then run carpet deep cleaner.
I was able to remove several years worth of tobacco tar from a white shirt this way (except washing machine replaces carpet cleaner in that instance). Shirt looks almost brand new.
Bissell sells a carpet cleaner solution that already includes oxyclean as well. Try that first.

I'd be a little worried about a dark carpet - test it on an out-of-sight corner first to make sure it's colour-fast.

You're simply not going to get it all out. |

| | You don't want to do that. Trust me. I'd have the carpet commercial cleaned, and let them know what you're working on.
