A Challenge for Myself! (you can join in too)

I realized on my 3 hour car ride home from Toledo, Ohio, to Cincinnati, Ohio, that I spend way too much money. I need to start spending less. I feel this is a common predicament amongst Americans. But I also realized that I have a lot of stuff sitting around, just waiting for my to use it again, more, etc. I go out and buy a lot of little things just to entertain myself, and I still have all those things...

So I have decided to test myself, to see how long I can go without spending money. ANY money at all. My last purchase: a cup of coffee for the car ride home. I hope to make it a week. Hopefully I can make it until I have to buy another tank of gas... but that one is unavoidable... I need gas to go to work to make the money I plan on not spending. I think I have enough food in my apartment to last a week... we will see... lots of ramen noodles are in my immediate future!

We will see how well I can do! But I invite all of you to join me!

NOTE: This test will be easier for those of us who have no money to spend in the first place. I have money, I just need to save it for other things, like paying off my school loans, paying for gas, etc.

Just become a professional musician.
I've been practicing this for at least a year.

exactly my words.

Not spending is a very hard thing to do. The world revolves around one currency or another. However, reducing the amount you spend, and actually buying what you need rather than what you just want will help more than you will ever know.

If you have the time (you will have to spend a little money too ) check out a copy of Dave Ramsey's book "Total Money Makeover". It can change your life if you let it.

Turn off the tv, dump the cable subscription, for entertainment treat yourself to a cheapie flick, read books from used book stores, stop eating out, brew your own coffee, stop drinking soda, dump the gym membership and ride your bike, jog, and or create your own workout regime, sell everything that you are keeping around "just in case" and marry an asian chick that is great in the sack and cooks great meals.

sounds...sound!

althought i'd substitute the asian chick for a redhead who can bake up a storm and is going to be a Vet, and i think it'll be perfect.
