Yeah, if you didn't make the 3d man, DON'T USE THE POSTER! In the age of Google image search, people often forget that images are STILL copywrited, and can't be used for commercial gain.
If it is yours, the poster still feels like it needs work. It's not bad, but the band text feels completely unrelated to the image. And having the main image all faded/dissolved just looks like the image was cheaply printed/produced.

Posters are used as a promotion tool. In music they're used to promote either a show or a CD or say what the band is about. This poster doesn't tell me anything other than there's a 3D man and the band's name is Spiral Visions. I'm guessing it's some sort of hair metal band? That's what the stylized text reminds me of.
I know I'm being harsh, but I'm just going over the questions in my head whenever I design something, whether it's a poster, website, etc. Making a poster just to have a poster is cool and all, but when you have clear goals it becomes much more effective. |

I don't get the connection with the name and viscera man...looking all Prince-when-doves-cry mirrored. |

and, yeah... I agree with the criticism about the text not working, I'll recreate it.

If you keep it that way, it will cost a fortune to print and retain any quality of that image. If you go black and white, ala, photcopier, much of the fine detail will be lost.
The long and short of it is - make a design that is easily reproduceable on a number of different mediums such as a flyer, t-shirt, poster, newspaper article, etc. |

I was gonna say it's not busy enough. Like there's too much space between the words and the picture. If you're going to have that much space, then fill it up!
Although it does look like he got a little carried away. Good idea, could use improvement.

It sucks, it really sucks IMO. Design a simple band logo or something. I'll work a simple idea logo for you, just for the heck of it.
It doesn't look like a poster and more for a design to represent it. A poster should be as said easy to reproduce. |

The images and Fonts are copyrighted but this is just a basis for an idea. |

I'm still trying to make a decent recreation of the face in Adobe Illustrator. This is definitely one of the more exasperating projects I've undergone with that program...

Keep working at it and I think you will have something to be proud of. Remember to keep in mind Jive's and other people's comments since there's some good advice there.
The name actually reminded me of an eyeball with a spiral in the pupil like you sometimes see in those 50s sci-fi/horror movies. Quote:

It really depends on what you want to do, but it's better to have some space than fill everything up. At least then people will ask "Why is there so much space?" It attracts attention. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
