hey fellow TBers,
in another thread of mine i seem to have started a debate on the correct place for the term ''CHICK''.
Another TBer referred to me as sexist for using the term, which in my homeland of Australia is a fun term and not derogotory towards females at all.
Dictionary meaning: Noun
1. chick - young bird especially of domestic fowl
biddy, young bird - a bird that is still young
gallus, chicken - a domestic fowl bred for flesh or eggs; 2. chick - informal terms for a (young) woman
dame, doll, bird, skirt
fille, girl, miss, missy, young lady, young woman - a young woman; "a young lady"
Let me know your thoughts..... |

A female reporter called her competing newstation to complain that one of their reporters had told her "broads don't belong in broadcasting"
and the manager replied "That's terrible! I don't know how many times I've told my boys never to call chicks broads."
I love Weird Al.

I love Weird Al. | LOL! Somehow, broads sounds more derogatory though I couldn't tell you why I think that.

The word "broad" refers to hips. It was the "chick" of its day in certain areas.

As for the "chick" thing, I don't think it's a big deal. I assume you didn't mean for it to be derogatory. If someone has a problem with it, they need to lighten up. |

Thankfully she only rolled her eyes when I quoted one of my former friends once in reference to a lady's legs and said "Hey, would ya check out the Get Away Sticks on that Broad!!!" I don't think it's so much a problem that people have an animalistic attraction for one another.. Any of us with hormones know that feeling. It's a problem when we allow that to get in the way of seeing the person too. That being said.. Chicks Frickin Rule!!!!

I've also noticed that some people on here just seem to have small tree branches deeply inserted into the last stop of their digestive tract.

The term chick is neither offensive nor sexist.

| | As a matter of fact, I DO have a warning label. | | Join Date: Jan 2010 Location: Near Orlando FL | | | I'm pretty sure that wasn't a chick calling you sexist and fussing about the use of the word. Over in Humor we have a whole thread dedicated to "Chicks with Basses" and we're now in Part 6. We kinda like it that the peeps here think we're cool. So....come on over and check us out if you get tired of being fussed at. We'd be glad to have ya!
