| | | Those are the perks when Daddy works in the tower. Obviously the father was overseeing his kids instructions and although he is setting himself up for a problem I see nothing wrong with it. Had the kid made a mistake the father could have quickly and easily correct it. Also had I been the pilot receiving instructions from the child, I would have known if he said something incorrect and waited for confirmation or questioned the instructions. |

Interesting.
So how would you feel if you lost your job behind such negligence? |

I thought that was pretty cool! |

As cute as it was, it breaks some heavy rules and they will make an example of the ATC who allowed this. It's sad but thats the outcome I predict. As a TB'er who lives directly in the flightpath of the planes that land at JFK (they fly over the houses across the street and their landing gear is down and they have < 6 miles 'til they land, which is about 2 minutes) its a concern when ATC fools around. In inclement weather, sometimes they are directly over my house and its loud and feels like they might hit my chimney. I think because of the embarassment caused, the guy loses his job. |

It doesn't matter if it was someones kid. Heads WILL roll. I cannot imagine what the father or anyone involved was thinking. This isn't some grass field in Bum**** Kansas. |

I'm afraid the kids father will be working somewhere else in the very near future, along with any supervisors in the tower at the time. |

A few years ago there was a case very similar as this one,in Russia where a child was doing the same thing. His cuteness caused a plane to crash killing over 70 passengers on board. |

These guys need to have 100% attention on their jobs and kids represent a HUGE distraction. This guy is toast. The kid is going to feel really bad too when he figures out he was the cause of his dad's firing. My analogy to letting someone fly my airplane is lame. |

I don't have a problem with it but to be fair they can't afford to be this lax with airport safety and security. What if an accident had happened while the kid was on duty? I know his father was there but the lawsuits would be astounding. I don't think there should be kids in the control tower, on drug raids, performing surgery, driving trucks or busses, and other situations with life or death potential.

I can just imagine their testimony You are right in that whoever's involved is TOAST |

Pretty sure this isn't one of them.
