Who the hell would think it was a good idea to give a child a gun, let alone a fully automatic one

The folks running this show should very well have known better. A freaking micro uzi?? If they had allowed him a .22 or something or the sort, fine, but an uzi? Ugh.... What the heck were they thinking?

Hey Doc, I know this is way off-topic, but I was just at the BG forum reading about Peavey graphites [Moses thread]. I remember you knowing what the models are [were]. Two of them, no?

They were saying on the local news that they were advertising the gun show as "no permits needed" and "a day of family fun." |

The boy should not have been in the range area. As one would expect, while firing, the muzzle rose and rounds struck him in the head. |

As to why there was a loaded Micro Uzi...it was a gun show (outdoor event) with live fire demonstrations and the opportunity to fire full-auto firearms with a trained instructor. Quote:

I can picture exactly what happened. | Yes, it was a a full-auto Micro Uzi. They are hard to control even for a lot of adults but it isn't due to the caliber of the weapon. The entire Uzi family of weapons have a rather large grips that a childs hand(s) would have a really hard time getting a good grip on. Add that to a super high cyclic rate (rate of fire) of over 1100+ rounds per minute and you have what happened here. The child would have been fine firing it in semi-auto but not full. However, the stupid instructor should have known better. He was an idiot and I have no sympathy for him over the charges he faces.
Now, about the caliber thing when it concerns a child. My daughter fired my Para P13 .45 auto when she was 7yo and is extremely small for her age and she had no problem with the recoil. Yes, she couldn't hold the gun up, and had to rest it on something, but could fire and control it with no problem. BTW, she is a very good shot! |

The event organizers should have made sure it was legal in their state before allowing it. Now, per federal law, everything was legal. |
